Lab Introduction & Major Research Interests

As a clinical scientist whose major covers both basic and clinical aspects, my research interests are diverse and I am particularly enthusiastic for any innovative breakthrough into the field of pain medicine and anesthesia:

1. Pain medicine in basic sciences:

elucidating the mechanism of acupuncture, neonatal pain, opioid-induced immunosuppression, glia-cell derived nociception/analgesia, animal ethics in pain research by:

– behavior

– pharmacology

– immunohistochemistry

– functional imaging technology

2. Pain medicine in clinical sciences:

designing and conducting the randomized-controlled study for efficacy and side effect of various analgesics (opioid agonist-antagonist, neurotoxin) with specific aim at reduction of pain and pain-related comorbidity:

– neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia

– post-operative pain

– cancer pain

3. Clinical anesthesia:

designing device for airway and infusion pump

4. Complementary and integrative medicine

designing and conducting clinical trial associated with:

– taichi chuan’s effect on asthma, hemodialysis

– acupuncture’s effect on migraine headache and cerebral microcirculation
