For the past 5 years, I have devoted to revealing the age-dependency of migraine and developing new approaches to migraine therapy through both clinical and basic studies.
Clinical research
We found that plasma calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) levels are useful for diagnosing and predicting the disability in pediatric migraine. Plasma CGRP may be a potential biomarker in pediatric migraine. We further examined the role of plasma CGRP in patients with new onset migraine after closure of atrial septal defects which revealed bigger ASD size and lower plasma CGRP levels before closure could be a potential predictor of new-onset migraine. Moreover, we found the plasma CGRP level may also serve as a reference for the therapeutic strategy. These results are clinically significant, especially for the young children who cannot clearly describe their headache symptoms.
