Prof. Lin’s research interests include digital image and signal processing, biological modeling and analysis, and mechatronics. His current research foci are: (1) Imaging of biological materials including vegetative tissues and grains, (2) automated pest insect recognition and monitoring system based on deep learning, (3) analyses and modeling of multi-channel cortical signals in the rat, (4) imaging system for honey bees behavior monitoring. Many of his past and current research projects bridge biological science and engineering technology and involve participation of both biologists and engineers to formulate integrated systems or solve problems from both biological and engineering perspectives.
