Our laboratory, Laboratory of Integrated Neuroscience and Ethology (LINE) at NTU, emphasizes the integrative understanding of the links between brain/neurobiology and mental disorders from multi-disciplinary approaches. Our current research interests mainly focus on 4 lines of studies. (1) Basic: To study mouse models of psychiatric disorders and the possible role of AKT1 and other schizophrenia candidate genes in the pathogenesis of schizophrenia. (2) Advance: To investigate higher cognitive functions and reward-based decision making in both mice and schizophrenic patients. (3) Application: Preclinical evaluation of potential drugs for the treatment of schizophrenia. (4) Social: To study social neuroscience and the neural basis of social learning and memory in hamsters, mice, and humans.
