Credit-Hour Program
Introduction
To promote integrated education and training in neurobiology and cognitive science, National Taiwan University established the “Neurobiology and Cognitive Science Center ” in 2005, followed by the launch of the “Neurobiology and Cognitive Science Credit-Hour Program” in 2006. Students enrolled in the program must complete a total of 22 credits, which include foundational and advanced courses in statistics, psychology, and neuroscience, as well as practical components such as laboratory work and special projects. By integrating theoretical coursework with hands-on experience, the program provides comprehensive interdisciplinary training. Students who fulfill all requirements receive an official certificate from the Center.

Curriculum Planning
The curriculum of the ” Neurobiology and Cognitive Science Credit-Hour Program” is organized into three components: Required Courses, Advanced Courses, and Elective Courses.
- Required Courses: These introductory courses provide essential foundational knowledge for all undergraduate and graduate students in the program.
- Advanced Courses: Building upon the required foundation, these courses enable deeper specialization. Students must complete at least one course from “Advanced Courses I” and one from “Advanced Courses II.”
- Elective Courses: These courses allow students to align their studies with personal interests and research directions. They can be chosen from additional advanced offerings or from a pre-approved list of relevant university-wide electives.
Since both neurobiology and cognitive science place strong emphasis on experimental training, all students are required to complete practical courses, including Statistics, Special Projects, Methods of Psychological Experiments, and Neurobiology Laboratory Courses. This balanced combination of theoretical coursework and hands-on practice ensures the program’s comprehensive training objectives are fully met.
